What is the Equitom Foundation ?

For over 20 years, my husband and I have dedicated ourselves to the well-being of horses. In this time, we have built Equitom into the largest equine clinic in Europe. Known worldwide as “the clinic of last hope,” Equitom owes its reputation to our unwavering passion and determination to go to great lengths for every horse in need.

Full transparency

Transparency is an essential pillar of the Equitom Foundation. This applies not only to our activities,
finances and decision-making, but also to our communication with donors, volunteers and other stakeholders.

By prioritizing transparency, the Equitom Foundation want to stimulate trust and support a collective effort to create a better future for horses and other animals in need.

1. Clear and Open Communication

We make sure donors are regularly informed; to understand exactly how the funds received are being used and what effect their contribution has in a rescue operation, for example, or other forms of aid.

Every year we publish a detailed annual report in which we share our rescues,
achieved results, challenges, financial overviews and objectives for the coming
year.

Additionally we invite everyone to follow us on our social media platforms, such
as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok, to stay informed about our actions and projects.

2. Financial Transparency

The Equitom Foundation attaches great importance to financial transparency. Every year we publish detailed financial reports in which we provide an overview of our income, expenditure, received donations and the allocation of funds. These reports are available on our website and as public documents.

Donors always have insights into how the received funds are spent and can even specifically choose which project they want to contribute to.

To ensure additional financial responsibility, our finances are regularly audited by an independent external auditor. This provides an objective and reliable assessment of our financial situation and strengthens confidence in our Foundation.

3. Stakeholder Engagement

The Equitom Foundation finds it important to actively involve its stakeholders (donors, volunteers, partner organizations, etc.) in its operations. In order to guarantee sound decision-making and financial transparency, there is a Supervisory Board that oversees our activities.
This provides an extra layer of accountability and increases transparency within the Foundation.

4. Transparent Decision-Making for Donors

At the Equitom Foundation, we provide our donors with clear information about why and how we raise funds and for which projects their donation is used.

We ensure that important decisions, such as the allocation of donations and the selection of projects, are carefully documented and accessible to our stakeholders.

5. Social Media Updates

Regular updates on project progress, upcoming activities, and key developments, are shared through our social media channels, keeping our community informed and engaged.

6. Accessibility and Feedback

We are always available to answer questions or address concerns via email or social media.

Feedback is actively encouraged to continually improve our work and strengthen the foundation’s impact, based on the experiences from our collaborators and donors.

Who can benefit from the Foundation’s assistance?

Initially, our support will focus on animal protection organizations dedicated to horses. These efforts allow us to reach horses in desperate need—often victims of neglect and abuse—and intervene where the need is most critical. For these organizations, we will start by covering 50% of the invoice, enabling us to extend our help to as many horses as possible.

As the foundation grows and acquires sufficient resources, we will expand this support to include horse owners who face financial hardship, ensuring they can provide essential, life-saving care for their beloved animals.

Beyond direct support, the foundation is deeply committed to driving positive change for equine welfare on a larger scale. We actively fund scientific research that advances the understanding and care of horses, and we prioritize education and training initiatives to raise awareness and foster a more compassionate approach to their well-being.

What types of veterinary expenses are covered by the Foundation?

The Foundation provides support for all types of veterinary care. However, as we are still in the early stages, we are initially focusing on horses suffering from severe conditions and requiring urgent medical assistance. These critical cases are our absolute priority, allowing us to help horses in the most vulnerable situations.

As the Foundation grows and acquires more resources, we aim to expand our support to cover a broader range of veterinary needs. In doing so, we hope to make an increasingly significant impact on the well-being of horses.

How does the Foundation select the beneficiaries?

Animal welfare organisations can request a quote by contacting Equitom’s office by email or phone, as is usually done.

Once the quote has been prepared, our administrative department will forward it to the Foundation for approval, ensuring that assistance is prioritized for the most urgent cases.
